Kwahi Leonard And DeMary DeRozan Play Against Their Former Teams

With the 15th pick in 2011 Nba draft the San Antonio Spurs would select Kwahi Leonard. Leonard would become a huge factor in the 2013-2014 title run and even become the Finals MVP. He would become the Spurs future, with expectations being that he would replace the rein of Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker, but things didn't turn out as the Spurs planned. Kwahi Leonard was faced with a right quadricep injury and that's where things turned. Kwahi didn't trust the team doctors diagnosis and sat out most of the year, including not showing up to the playoff games. Kwahi didn't even sit on the bench or even show up to the arena, he was absent.

Kwahi Leonard is about to play at home against the Spurs for the first time this season and it will be interesting. While Danny Green will definitely be given a warm reception, with cheers and a tribute video, the question is what type of reception will Kwahi receive? While Leonard did help win the city a championship and grew up in front of the city, he did very questionable things. Kwahi wasn't heard from the entire year, which caused the media to have a complete frenzy with the story, and then the team held a players-only meeting where they reportable asked Kwahi to play. This meeting was very tense and emotional, after this meeting Leonard didn't play again this season. Even Tony Parker came out during the season to comment on Kwahi's injury. Tony said that his injury was "a hundred times worst" than Kwahi's. This just showed that not even his own teammates had his back.

Michelle Beadle, Espn Analysis and Avid Spurs Fan, went on Get Up! to show her frustrations for Kwahi and the frustrations of the entire fan based. Beadle said that he is coming off as an "obnoxious diva" which is fair for how it was being perceived. Last season Spurs fans have seem to have enough of Kwahi and just wanted him out of there. The Spurs are typically a high class organization who doesn't put up with childish games. I feel as if Kwahi will get a mixed reception from the crowd, with half of them booing and half of them cheering. The Spurs will definitely give him a tribute video, as Kwahi did help Gregg Popovich's 5th Nba Title.

The story being overlooked however is that this will be DeRozan's first game against the Raptors. DeRozan will definitely bring his A game and go prove to the whole team why they should've kept him around. DeRozan spent the first 9 years of his career in Toronto, and has been spending this entire season talking about how he felt betrayed by them. With DeRozan I feel as if the bigger game, for him, will be on February 22nd, when the Raptors are home. That will be DeMar's homecoming and his revenge game on them.
