Cavaliers Under-minding The Warriors Will Change The Draft

Recently the Cleveland Cavaliers have signed and released ex-Warrior Patrick McCaw, but the outcome of this decision could cost them a draft pick. McCaw recently signed a two-year 5 million dollar contract, The Warriors had the option to match the contract but chose not to. If the Warriors chose to keep McCaw they would've been forced with a luxury tax of an additional 11.3 million dollars, bringing the luxury tax to a grand total of 61.3 million dollars. McCaw was released by the Cavs just 3 days after signing to them.

The Warriors have filed an investigation against the NBA, saying an illegal deal was done. The allegations are that the Cavs have signed McCaw as a favor or just to get back at the Warriors for the last few years finals. If found out that the Cavs actually did do this deal, then they would be found in violation against the league rules.

If found guilty, the Cavs could potentially be faced with a heavy fine and a lose of a 1st round draft pick. If they do lose their 1st round pick than Cleveland's entire season would be a huge waste. They are clearly tanking with the worst record in the NBA and currently are tied with have the best odds of landing the 1st overall pick. If the NBA does take away their pick then what should the Cavs do?

Kevin Love is currently hurt, with no timetable for return. Without their best player on the Cavs they are forced to tank the season and go for a chance at Zion, the only problem is that now they might not have a chance for him. The Cavs might as well go all in on Sexton and develop him and try to win games. They need to make moves to help them win now and try to excite the fans for the future.

Sexton has a lot of potential, with even the rookie voting Sexton the rookie of the year before the season began. Sexton is the future of the Cavs and they need to embrace it. They need to have Love come back and have Sexton and Love become a great duo in the Eastern Conference trying to win as many games as possible.

What this means for the rest of the teams that are tanking is that everyones odds for the 1st overall pick goes up. Teams like Phoenix, New York, and Chicago will commit even harder to tanking, with other teams starting to tank instead of trying to win a few games now. The tank wars will be in full effect with everyone trying to get a chance at Zion if the odds increase for all the teams if the Cavs lose their pick.
