Raptors New Kings Of The Eastern Conference

As of Thursday the Toronto Raptors have acquired centre Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for center Jonas Valanciunas, guard Delon Wright, forward C.J. Miles and a 2024 second-round draft pick.

This is a great pick up for the Raptors they brought in a highly skilled veteran who has significant playoff experience. He also poses leadership skills which will really be a big thing when post season play comes about for the Raptors. Gasol is also averaging some good numbers season, he’s averaging 15.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, a career-high 4.7 assists, 1.2 blocks and 33.7 minutes in 53 games this season. He is shooting .444 from the field, .344 from three-point range and .756 at the free throw line. Gasol has scored 20 or more points 13 times and posted 18 double-doubles. Gasol will come in being considered one of the main contributors of the team putting up numbers like that.

Raptors really might have struck gold with this trade Raptors stand second in the east as of right now and that was before Gasol joined now they are going to be even more of powerhouse in the east with his addition. They have even a greater chance at locking down a final appearance this year. This was a good well thought out move on their behalf. Trading for Gasol served as a great counter move to their fellow teams such as the 76ers who traded Markelle Fultz for Jonathan Simmons and in addition got Tobias Harris who had a great season debut. These trades have really shaken up the competition in the east
